Foods of Italy: A Taste From Our Trip

Come on now, we all love Italian food.

Even people who don’t do well with gluten still have to admit the foods of Italy are damn tasty!

Lucky for us, we got to backpack around Italy in August and it was a culinary delight.

This post is dedicated to the food from that trip, the smorgasbord of mouth-watering deliciousness that we sampled, rich as kings!

Try not to get too hungry, I know I did just putting this post together 😉

Let’s start in Florence. We had some goooooooooood food in Florence.

Mozzarella salad, anyone?

Or maybe some traditional mince ravioli with a coating of grated cheese.

Toasted Foccacia with sweet tomatoes and drizzles of olive oil..

Or what about some Burrata (Buffalo) Cheese instead?

Eggplant Moussaka is always a good idea!

So is Parmesan, tasty tasty Parmesan.

Okay, that’s enough of Florence.

What do the quaint coastal villages of Cinque Terre have to offer us?

Italian Prawn stew with fresh wholesome dipping bread perhaps.

Crusty Marinara pizza overflowing with Frutti Di Mare (Fruits of the Sea).

No food adventure through Italy could miss the gastronomic capital of Bologna!

There’s me wandering Bologna, preparing for another food session no doubt!

Prosciutto Pizza? Yes please!

Italian fruits? Absolutely!

Fresh figs look delectable.

They taste it, too.

Delis in Bologna play host to lip-smacking goodness.

These red, red peppers would add spice to any meal.

Moving on, no doubt the stunning Sicily, the infamous land of amazing food (with a sprinkling of mobsters ;)) will showcase Italian food at its best. Well, it certainly didn’t disappoint!

There is absolutely no reason you can’t eat seafood the whole time, right?

A freshly crumbed piece of Fish. Yum.

Prawns and lemon? Don’t mind if I do!

It’s dessert time, what about a classically Italian Pistachio Cannoli?

Wild strawberry cupcakes work too!

You know, I can’t even remember what this is, let’s just call it a Taste of Sicily.

No trip to Italy can be complete without strolling through the history of Rome and licking a cool double scooped Gelati.

I usually don’t even look at posts about food, and now I remember why: because it makes me so sad I cannot eat all the deliciousness!! These are amazing pictures, I’m drooling over my notebook right now, and nearly crying. Yes, it’s that serious. Italy, when I’m coming for you, it ain’t gonna be pretty…;)!

The food in Italy is so good. I get hungry just thinking about it! I went to bakeries every day I was there just to get the fresh mozzarella. It is one of the reason that Italy is my favorite country at the moment.

  8. Your photos are KILLING me! Amazing shots as well as amazing food. Everything looks so delicious!!

Mouthwatering! I love being in Japan and devouring sushi, ramen, and Japanese curry, but now I wish I was eating some of that Italian food you posted. Great pictures!
