Looking for somewhere that provides sun and sea and plenty to do? Then you want to get yourself to the Canary Islands. More specifically, you should hit Tenerife. It’s verdant and mountainous and, at the same time, perfect if you’re just looking to lounge on the beach and relax. If you like to be on the go, you can skip the beach and explore new landscapes. It all makes Tenerife one of the best package destinations in Europe.

Parque Nacional del Teide

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a national park, with the highest mountain in the whole of Spain. It’s a great location for hiking and sightseeing, and the views from the peak are magnificent. Towards the top, there’s a refuge for mountaineers, plus hospital facilities. If climbing mountains isn’t your thing, you can ascend to the peak by cable car, so absolutely everyone can enjoy the views.

Parque Rural del Teno

Far off the beaten track and away from other tourists, this park provides a natural escape into wilderness and wildlife. There are some really rare birds here, along with an old lighthouse and wonderfully green forests.

Parque Rural de Anaga

In the north-eastern part of the island, this park offers a juxtaposition of nature and culture, as this area is a huge tourist attraction and incorporates the capital of Tenerife alongside the mountainous landscapes.

La Arena Beach

For beach lovers, Tenerife is ideal, and La Arena in Puerto Santiago is the perfect beach to visit: there’s volcanic sand, beautiful sunshine and a range of bars and restaurants for when you’re in need of sustenance and a break from the sun.

Isla Baja

For those travellers looking to get away from the bustle, Isla Baja is a quiet and relaxing part of the island and ideal for outdoor activities and fans of quiet hill towns and Spanish architecture. Visit Garachico, a unique historical town with winding streets and perfectly preserved buildings.

There are so many ‘must see’ places in Tenerife that it’s hard to ensure that the island is truly represented. Take a visit and you can see a truly diverse landscape which features mountains along with the architecture and the beaches. What’s not to marvel at?
